You will receive credit in future editions of this handbook if your input is used. MISHAP PREVENTION AND AFTERCARE Most of us working with electricity take risks. Usually we get our jobs done without any harmful results. Mishaps or injuries usually result from not understanding a risk or danger. The first part of this handbook is designed to help you eliminate or minimize mishaps.

Although an attempt has been made to use simple language, various technical words and phrases have necessarily been included. Specific terms are defined in Module 20, Master Glossary. Considerable emphasis has been placed on illustrations to provide a maximum amount of information. In some instances, a knowledge of basic algebra may be required. Assignments are provided for each module, with the exceptions of Module 19, The Technician's Handbook; and Module 20, Master Glossary. Heat is important in the treatment of shock to the extent that the injured person's body heat must be conserved. Exposure to cold, with resulting loss of body heat, can cause shock to develop or to become worse.
