THE FIRST RULE approximately struggle membership is you don't speak about struggle club..

each weekend, within the basements and parking plenty of bars around the state, younger males with whitecollar jobs and failed lives take off their sneakers and shirts and struggle one another barehanded simply so long as they need to. Then they return to these jobs with blackened eyes and loosened enamel and the experience that they could deal with whatever. struggle membership is the discovery of Tyler Durden, projectionist, waiter, and darkish, anarchic genius, and it's merely the start of his plans for violent revenge on an empty consumer-culture global.

From Publishers Weekly -
Featuring cleaning soap made of human fats, waiters at high-class eating places who do unmentionable issues to soup and an underground association devoted to causing a violent anarchy upon the land, Palahniuk's apocalyptic first novel is obviously now not for the faint of middle. The unnamed (and super unreliable) narrator, who makes his dwelling investigating injuries for a automobile corporation with a view to determine their legal responsibility, is scuffling with insomnia and a normal experience of anomie through attending a gentle sequence of support-group conferences for the grievously unwell, at certainly one of which (testicular melanoma) he meets a tender lady named Marla. She and the narrator get right into a love triangle of varieties with Tyler Durden, a mysterious and gleefully harmful younger guy with whom the narrator starts off a struggle membership, a mystery society that gives younger execs the opportunity to overcome each other to a bloody pulp. Mayhem ensues, starting with the narrator's apartment exploding and culminating with a terrorist assault at the world's tallest development. Writing in an ironic deadpan and together with whatever to offend all people, Palahniuk is a dicy author who takes percentages galore, particularly with a very extraordinary plot twist he throws in past due within the publication. Caustic, outrageous, bleakly humorous, violent and regularly unsettling, Palahniuk's totally unique production will make even the main jaded reader sit up straight and take notice.
